Court
Service
|
 |
| Brief |
We
inherited
a
dormant
portfolio
of
40
buildings
throughout
the
UK
of
varying
tenures
sizes,
values
and
issues
at
a
time
when
the
court
service
was
undergoing
strategic
reorganisation.
Our
brief
was
to
work
with
central
and
local
management
to
focus
down
to
the
core
buildings
required
for
the
long
term
and
ensure
that
all
buildings
ran
better
day
to
day.
This
was
to
be
achieved
in
partnership
with
Hyder
Business
Services
in
providing
an
integrated
asset
management/facilities
management
offer.

| Solution
|
Transferred
all
existing
records
both
electronic
and
paper
to
ensure
visibility
of
tenure
and
obligations.
We
then
produced
an
assessment
of
which
buildings
were
surplus
to
requirements
and
which
had
issues
and
began
to
rationalise
these.
We
carried
out
a
program
of
inspections
and
met
local
managers
and
from
this
devised
a
3
year
action
plan
to
ensure:
rent
was
under
control,
capital
spend
on
buildings
was
brought
under
direct
management.
In
the
Supreme
Court
Circuit
portfolio
we
have
secured
long
term
use
of
the
2nd
and
3rd
most
important
core
properties
which
are
major
cornerstones
of
the
entire
court
service
portfolio
and
have
released
surplus
buildings
with
concomitant
costs
for
long
term
operational
savings,
achieved
a
high
level
of
efficiency
in
space
utilisation
and
overall
much
better
value
for
money.
